Random Thoughts on Various Subjects

1. MUBARAK RESIGNS

What a wonderful and historic event. I love a revolution. This one shows that leaders only govern by consent of the governed, and tyranny can end at any time. All it takes is for people to wake up and shake off their chains.

I don't know what's next for Egypt. They might get another dictator. It might get taken over by Muslim radicals. But Egyptians know what it takes to change things. This all began in Tunisia and other dictators should fear the coming revolution. This is up there with the fall of the Berlin Wall.

Obama is spinning this just as any politician would. Nevermind that Mubarak was a US puppet. As for Israel, they love dictators as neighbors. With democracy in Egypt, it is a virtual certainty that they will beef up security and rhetoric. Palestinians celebrated in Gaza. Don't be surprised if the Palestinians don't decide to have their own revolution.

2. THE FAILURE OF MULTICULTURALISM

First, David Cameron dropped the bomb. Then, Sarkozy did the same thing in France. Now, the echoes are in Germany and the rest of Europe. The declaration is that multiculturalism has failed to integrate Muslims into the respective European societies. Of course, there is the fact that many of these immigrants are skilled workers who cause resentment from natives who don't want the foreign competition.

This is xenophobia going mainstream. European countries will now close their borders. The USA is not far behind.

3. APPLE

I expect Steve Jobs to croak at anytime. It is not something I want, but his death looms very large now. He isn't talking about his health, but I suspect he has cancer which is metastasizing now. My advice to Jobs is to sit down and write. He needs to get it on paper what he believes and what he has to say to the world because those last words will echo for decades after he is gone. For the sake of Apple and tech, Jobs needs to put his philosophy into words. Movements outlive their founders, and Jobs has sparked a real movement. The time has come to give that movement words to live by.

4. CPAC

Ron Paul is the star. Donal Trump who will run says he likes Ron Paul, but he has zero chance of being elected. I won't put his chances at zero. They used to say a black man had zero chance of being president. Strange things happen. But it is telling that a guy like Ron Paul who is right on so many issues and been vindicated on those positions in recent years has no chance of being the GOP nominee. I was looking to Gary Johnson this time around because he is younger and has executive experience. I could see Ron Paul and Gary Johnson running on a ticket together. But the reality is that America is not ready nor will it ever be ready for a libertarian revolution. Americans are stupid, and they get the government they ask for. Stupid people can't be free. They don't want freedom.

5. RAHM AND REPARATIONS

This is the most unbelievable pandering and chicanery I have ever witnessed. Rahm Emanuel in an effort to get Chicago's black vote declares that he believes in reparations for slavery. Unfuckingbelievable.

6. OLBERMANN ON CURRENT TV

It looks like KO will have a new gig with Al Gore's unwatched Current TV. He should have tried to hook up with Dan Rather over at HDNet. This guy is headed to media oblivion. But he could easily do an online venture and really shake things up. He won't. The problem with Keith Olbermann with all his bombast and fervor is that he is still a mainstream media whore. He needs the establishment media to do his schtick.

7. FORD ON IMMIGRANTS

SC State Sen. Robert Ford got in trouble this week for saying that blacks and whites in America don't work as hard as Mexican immigrants. This is generally true. I have worked with Mexicans, and they have a tremendous work ethic. Naturally, Ford who is black was called a racist for praising the immigrants while being critical of members of his own race. Am I the only one who sees the irony in all of this?

8. ASSANGE FUTILITY

The USA has no case against Assange. Try as they may, they can't make a link between Manning and Assange, and precedent is against them even if Holder and Co. can make the case. Give it up, fucknuts. Freedom wins. Do a better job at keeping your own secrets.
