Before I begin, I would like to tell all the commenters here on the C-blog from the regulars to the anonymous that I appreciate everything you share here from the encouragement to the insults. I can honestly say that you have all been a positive influence in my life. Some of you have even changed my life. Thank you for everything.
My blog is me. This isn't Zen Habits or Lifehacker. This is me. I cover it all from the trivial to the humorous to the serious to the truly dark. If there is one element running through all of it, it is truth. The truth can make you laugh. It can make you smile. It can make you sad. It can make you mad. But, ultimately, I believe the truth can never hurt you. I believe not knowing the truth hurts more than knowing the truth.
Sometimes, I get it wrong. But I believe I get it mostly right. And I'm fine with people disagreeing with me. There is an AMEN button and a FUCK YOU button at the bottom of each post. I have yet to encounter another blog with such features. I am always amused when other bloggers decide to turn off comments altogether. This to me is a sure sign that they are full of shit, or they have one hell of a problem with spammers. I had 8000+ pageviews last month, so I should be prime spamming ground. But I only have to delete one thing a week usually involving buying Viagra in Japan. Other times, it is someone promoting their blog without actually reading the article or commenting on the post except with some vague sentence like "Great post!" followed by a link to their blog. (TIP: Make great content. This is how you grow your audience.)
I don't make any money from this project. I don't do ads or tip jars. I accepted a long time ago that writing was not going to be a profitable gig for me. My motivation for this project is the simple fact that I have fun doing it. It gives meaning and purpose to my life. It also puts fear and trepidation into my enemies because I have a soapbox. I'm not going to bite the pillow and take it quietly. These reasons alone are enough for me to keep this project going. After five years of blogging, I think I can say I'm in it for the long haul.
I break all the rules for bloggers. Beyond the logo, I don't do marketing. I don't stick to one topic and repeat myself over and over. I just write. That's it. Whatever interests me is what goes here. I don't know what is good or what readers want to read. I just write the things I want to read.
For the future, all I can promise is more of the same. Thanks for reading and commenting.
