Random Thoughts on Various Subjects

1. THE DEBT LIMIT

There's been a lot of talk this week about playing chicken with the national debt limit and wreaking economic havoc. Ironically, this sounds just like 2008 when they told us we had to bail out the banksters or risk the same economic havoc. What a neat fucking trick. We need to increase the debt limit, so we don't default on our debts. Let's use credit card analogy to clear this up a bit.

Imagine your college attending daughter calls you up and tells you that she is close to maxing out her MasterCard and needs a new Visa card. You laugh and tell her she needs to go work a job, trim her budget, or what have you. Then, she informs you that you are risking grave economic peril because without that Visa, you won't be getting a new set of golf clubs for Christmas.

This is exactly how your government is working. They want more money to blow on you and also to maintain the debt created by the money they have already blown. Basically, you spend a dollar to get 25 cents back in benefits and scaring you that without the dollar you are forfeiting the quarter. It is dumb for you, but taxpayers have never been smart.

2. THE NEW CONGRESS

. . .will be the same as the old congress. I don't care how many times they read the Constitution. This group is as dedicated to limited government as lions are to vegetarianism. If you see a big cat munching on salad, know it is only a precursor to him devouring your ass.

There is a bigger presence for limited government types, but they are a minority. Even Ron Paul refuses to join the Tea Party Caucus knowing it is a bunch of shit. His son Rand is a bit more optimistic about making change, but that shiny glow will rub off within the next year or so as Republicans vote to raise the debt limit.

There is going to be a split in the Tea Party. I can already see daylight now. On one side, you have the dedicated libertarian types. On the other side, you have these Palin loving fucktards. The split will happen as we see who is dedicated to fiscal responsibility and who isn't. If you want to know who the traitors are, just record who votes to increase the debt limit.

3. VERIZON iPHONE

About fucking time.

4. GIFFORDS SHOOTING

This just happened today, and I condemn the shooting. From what I've read, the gunman was a lone nut with a schizophrenic political mindset. This is a senseless tragedy.

5. THE MESSIAH

Tony Krupicka has a FAQ on his blog. He is the ultrarunning vagrant living out in Boulder who logs 150-200 miles a week on mountainous terrain that would make day hikers puke from exhaustion. I really enjoyed this quote:

Logistically, it comes down to making running a no-brainer habit and nearly unassailable priority--oftentimes at the detriment of other things (not always good). It comes down to basic discipline and living-out of a specific value-structure.

Basically, running is a lifestyle choice. It involves trade offs. For Tony, it sometimes means sleeping in his truck. What can I say? He is a one-of-a-kind guy.
