Q: What is your opinion of Occupy Wall Street?
A: OWS or the Occupation Movement as I call it because it has moved beyond Wall Street is the population waking up to the fact that they have been fucked. Tea Party folks had some clue, but these folks are utterly clueless. Their mass anger combined with their ignorance speaks volumes. If they read any of Ron Paul's books, they would understand.
I have been talking a lot about the population rising up when things got bad enough. But we aren't there yet. This is just the beginning. As real financial calamity hits, the rest of the population will become fiercely angry, and this uprising could very well become a revolution. Will it be a good revolution? Of course not.
For a good revolution, there must be a fundamental change in the mindset of the American people. They need to become smart. OWS is not smart. The Tea Party was barely smart. These people do not grasp the idea that freedom and small government are what are needed here. As it stands, OWS is a bunch of people wanting a government bailout. They turn their ire towards the banks in much the same way that little pigs resent the big pigs at the trough.
People are emotional not intellectual. They react to what they see without bothering to understand. They flail away blindly and wildly. This movement has managed to attract attention, but what do they want? No one seems able to answer this question. Is it Marxism? Or is it just criminal indictments against the banks? Or is it as simple as a government check or student loan debt forgiveness?
The simple truth is that these people have no understanding of basic economics. Because economics affects them, they react. But instead of grabbing a book, they grabbed protest signs. The bulk of it is a collection of stories detailing their suffering ending with the phrase, "I am the 99%." Pure fucking emotion. No thought or intellect there.
Without concrete demands or an agenda, the Occupiers are wasting their time. They will simply be teargassed into going back home. Yet, they could change the world with three little words. END THE FED.
