The U.S. Attorney in Detroit has announced the indictment of two Detroit-area businessmen and six former University of Toledo athletes in connection with point shaving between 2004 and 2006. Today’s charges shine a light into the dark corner of illegal bookmaking and reveal the unfortunate consequence that the influence from betting can have on the integrity of both athletes and athletic contests.
