Stewart Walters extends Glamorgan contract

Glamorgan Cricket has confirmed that Stewart Walters has extended his contract with the Club until the end of the 2014 season.

Stewart made his Glamorgan debut in 2011 having previously played for Surrey. Born in Victoria and raised in Western Australia, the right-handed batsman ended this season as Glamorgan’s leading run-scorer in first-class cricket, with 813 runs at an average of 39.

He also posted the Club’s highest individual score of the summer in the LV=County Championship with 159 against Essex at Colchester besides being the Club’s leading fielder with 13 catches.

Walters said, “I have loved my time in Cardiff since I arrived here and I’m excited about the future we’ve got here as a Club.

“I am very pleased to have signed a contract extension with Glamorgan. I’ve been at the Club for two seasons and I’m looking forward to helping us improve next year as a group and being part of that success as we put it together on the field.”

Glamorgan Cricket also confirm Aneurin Norman, Chris Ashling and Mike O’Shea will leave the Welsh county at the end of this season.

Head of Elite Performance Matthew Mott said, "This is a time when we have to release players from the club as we shape our plans for 2013 and it is never an easy decision to make. These players are young enough to still make it at first-class level and we would like to thank them for their commitment and effort throughout their careers for the county."
