Tate Stevens Wins X Factor USA

Congrats to Tate Stevens for winning X Factor USA.

The 37 year old wanna be country singer is now a
country singer with a $5 million dollar contract.

Well done to him, he deserves it, here's hoping his
album will be a huge success.

I'm also sure Carly will have a huge success.

Well done to both artists.

JGeeks and TVNZ should be up for Fraud?

I don't follow pop culture, and it would seem this
was kept very very quiet by TVNZ and the boy group
Jgeeks.

Recently New Zealand just had our version of New Zealand's
got talent, it was billed as people who were unknown getting
their break in the industry.

The winner was Clara Van Wel, she deserved it, the pint
size singer/songwriter had New Zealand in tears with her
beautiful song.

In fourth place was Jgeeks, a boy band come dance group,
come comedians.

Throughout the series they were billed as unknowns.

But that couldnt be further from the truth.

In the past three years, according to "throng"
they have received nearly $40 thousand dollars
in funding from NZ on air, they've had a youtube
video with five million hits, they have been in talks
with tv3 for 18 months for a show, and have numerous
appearances thruout the country.

Yet the  general public wasn't told this, their fanbase
obviously knew.

The contract for the contestants clearly stated, they
had to let the producers know if they had any
previous funding, I'm guessing they did, but TVNZ
turned a blind eye.

I wasn't going to do this post, but after all the racist
hatred the fans of Jgeeks did towards, Clara on
facebook and twitter, I thought it would be best
to get the truth out there.

Here's hoping the media will report on this, so
it doesn't happen again.

Time will tell.

Clara Van Wel Wins NZ's got Talent

Congrats to Clara Van Wel for winning New Zealand's
got talent. She deserves it, she is a wonderful songwriter,
a wonderful singer and a wonderful, shy, sweet person
who is genuine and she is only 15 years old.

She beat fellow contestants, Evan and Jesse.

These reality shows can sometimes produce Bizarre
results, with sometimes the best act losing.

Not this time though, Clara was the most consistent,
she bought her A game every night and the crowd
and the judges and the voters of New Zealand
appreciated it.

Here's hoping she has a long and successful career,
as I'm sure she will.

Well done again to young Clara.

David Martinez Survives Masterchef Elimination

Had to have a chuckle with the latest
Masterchef episode, the teams were on
the Venice beach, David had on his team
lesser cooks in Monti, Tanya and Anne.

His team finish last, and surprise, surprise,
straight away the three ladies had their
scape goat, in sort, fat geeky glasses wearing
David.

I mean it was like watching a doco ona  middle
school where something goes wrong and the
girls team up to blame the purpose who did
nothing wrong.

Heck it's like some offices I have worked in,
someone may fuck up, and then it's whisper,
whisper, whisper, and all of a sudden an
innocent member (usually male) gets the blame.

My question is do girls when they are adults actually
grow up and take responsibility for their mistakes, or
do they look for a scapegoat.

Well david anit no Goat, he made it through the
elimination test, despite Monti's disapproval.

Total classlessness from Monti, while David can
hold his head up high, here's hoping some of the
female contestants can actually grow up.

I anit holding my breath though.

Reasons I don't Like TV Chefs

No Michelin stars, no decent restaurant, famous
for being on the telly and that's it and this guy is
a advocate for health eating?

I think your 15 Minutes is up.

Hey Reality TV, heres your star

Hey reality TV, here is your star, here is your number one
guy, he's all that, hes the situation, in 20 or so years since
reality TV took off, with the UK's version of Big Brother,
it's evolved into Mike Sorrentino, 20 years of evolution for
this piece of shit.

He has millions of fans, then so do the ladies who bet up
a supermarket worker, hes on all the shows, people
clap like trained circus seals, every time he opens his
mouth, and of course thousands of lines are written
about his ab's, but what has he achieved?

Zero, nothing, zilch.

I'm also guessing this guy is no long term financial planner.

So when his looks go, when another TV show about a bunch
of rich Cu*ts acting like Pr*ks take off, Mike Sorrentino will
probably be on some local basic cable station selling vacuum
cleaners, paying off some cheap nasty drug habit.

Cool, Huh.

Gary Busey The Apprentice

That crazy Gary Busey is currently on New
Zealand TV screens in The Apprentice.

Gary who suffered  a brain injury in 1988, is
doing all sorts of crazy stuff on the Apprentice,
just like in his acting days.  Of course the editors
of the programme are trying to make him out
to be more crazy than he is, but it seems the
viewers are getting laughs out of his crazy antics.

Gary is showing the usual behavior patterns of
someone who is brain injured, he may look vacant,
he may say something that has nothing to do with the
conversation or the task that is going on, he may be
short tempered, but his heart's in the right place.

I say, he has the right to go on a  reality show and he
has the right to have his say, we shouldn't laugh at him
we should laugh with him, we should celebrate his
differences, the guy cheated death, he should be
applauded.

Stand up and cheer him on, listen to Randy Newman's
classic song, "I'm Different" and think of Gary.

He is not a bully, he doesn't have a ego, he is just
Gary!

Lets hope there is a little bit of Gary Busey in all of
us.

We could all do with a bit of crazy in our life's.

New TV Season Review

The new TV season is underway and all the major
shows have had their first episodes of the new season.

It was a mixture of greatness, goodness and some slightly
disappointing moments.

Anyway here is my reviews.

The Office 8/10

The Office which i reviewed in a previous post, had to
be eight of ten, for the choice of Andy Bernard as
Office manager and Robert California as the new
CEO. Only negative moments, Stanley's catch phrase
and  the persistence of the writers in letting us know
that Jim is a nice guy.

Modern Family 10/10

Modern Family which I also reviewed in a previous
post is the greatest thing on television at the moment,
the depth of each character and their family relationships
make this show unmissable and best of all it's funny, not
to be missed by anyone.

The Amazing Race  7/10

One again the Amazing Race is all about rooting for
your favorite team, the tasks are getting harder, the
teams are more competitive, there is every personality
type on show, only negative, a little repetitive, and the
show could be easy to manipulate

Kitchen Nightmares  6/10

Will watch it, because I love Ramsay, but if you
have seen one episode you probably have seen
them all, still makes for good viewing.

The Simpsons   7/10

The Simpsons is quality, but how can you keep it
fresh after 23 years, there is not many more story
lines you can do, still its funny, but I would really
love to see a ending to it.

Family Guy   5/10

Probably my biggest disappointment, I was
hoping for something special after last season
ended with what had to be the worst Family
Guy episode. Im not sure if the cut away's
are just getting boring or if there wasn't
enough Stewie, but it didn't seem to work,
here's hoping next week will be a big
improvement, it just has to be.

All in all, a good start to the new season.

Paul Niederman Wins Hell's Kitchen

Wahoo!!!

Paul Niedermann has won Hell's Kitchen!!

Gordon Ramsay got it right on this one.

If Elise Wims had of made the final two, there
would of been outrage, I wouldn't have minded
even if Will or Tommy would of won.

But,  thankfully it was the best Chef and one heck
of a nice guy, Paul that won.

Who says nice guys finish last, he was above all
the bickering all the lies, all the childish bully tactics
of Elise.

The BLT Steak House in New York is in great hands,
they will be led by a great chef, and for once reality
TV showed to win  you don't have to be a bully to
win.

Hats off to Chef Niederman!

Gordon Ramsay Keeps Elise

Well I have now seen 13 episodes of season nine
of Hell's Kitchen, and this is what bugs me about
reality TV shows and the bullies who are drawn
into them.

Elise said on episode 13 that  "I don't tolerate disrespect"

I'm kinda guessing that was scripted for her, I mean do
people still like screaming egotistical idiots that much,
I don't watch reality TV apart from Hells Kitchen and
the amazing race, but it never ceases to amaze me that
people with no talent who are abusive become famous,
and those same people think they are talented and think
that they are the victims.

I still love Gordon and I still love Hell's Kitchen, but shame
on them for turning  Hells kitchen into a Jersey Shore
type programme.

Your better than that Gordon.

Fingers crossed that this once great show, will
become great again.

I anit holding my breath.

Elise Hell's Kitchen Season Nine

Your kidding me right? I am currently
watching Hell's Kitchen Season Nine, I
have seen eleven episodes, and the great respect
I have for Gordon Ramsay, is slowly going
down.

The reason for this is Elise Wims, she is the
stereotype bully, the person who sees themselves
as a victim, the person who sees themselves as
the outcast and the one that is being bullied.

She could be the poster child for the office worker
who comes in everyday and expects people to be
courtesy and kind and respectful, yet will scream at
everybody saying the usual BS, "I take no crap from
anyone"

Some may say shes not very self aware, but boy oh
boy, she is, she is just a jerk.

But I'm sure like all those Z rated unoriginal reality TV
stars like her, she will have her fan base.

My problem with Gordon Ramsay is that she is good
for ratings, she can't win, but he will keep her on
because this idiot makes for good television.

Ramsay could of gotton rid of her plenty of times,
before now, but hey with her screaming and
ranting and her superiority complex there will
be a percentage of the public that will love her.

The show should be about the best Chefs,
working under one of the top Chefs in the
world, and people like Elise shouldn't belong
this late in the competition.

Here's hoping he will come to his senses, it's
50/50 really, but if she stays on after another
stuff up, well Ramsay should have a long hard
look at himself.

Here's hoping he will.

Nona Sivley Wins Hell's Kitchen

Nona Sivley has won the latest series of Hell's Kitchen.
In the final she beat the egotistical bully Russell Kook who
couldn't control his temper or his team of Chefs, and then
showed the world what a classless act he was by saying,
"I didn't lose it, my team lost it for me"

Chef Gordon Ramsay made the right decision, thruout
the series, Nona Sivley who improved with any service
during this season, showed her class thruout by never
bagging any chefs, always take the blame for her mistakes
and most important of all, she had an amazing Palette.

What people liked about her is, it didnt seem she wanted
a career in reality television, she wanted a job, and she
wanted to be the best.

Ramsay has got it right, and the owners of the LA market
restaurant have a winner Nona, Im guessing there is going
to be some Michelin stars coming her way.

Time will tell.

Meet the New Rob and Amber

Meet the new Rob and Amber, Chad and Stephanie. They are
a couple on The Amazing Race and it would seem, they are
ratings winners, so if they are last, I would guess that
that particular leg, will be a non elimination, if another
team is ahead of them for second to last place, Im guessing
that team will have a penalty like the father and son had.

Am I too cynical??

I love the Amazing race and have only questioned it during
the season of Rob and Amber and now. I'm guessing this cheesy
sleazy, wannabe reality TV star couple, will make it through
to the final, what will happened, this idiot has already proposed
there's bit much else for him to do.

Here's hoping the best couple will win, and that anit you Chad
and your plastic showpiece. (that's what she said)

Time will tell.

Oh my Gravy! (this post has spoilers about the Amazing race)

In the 16 year history of the amazing race, no team has been more
liked, than this year's runners up, Jet and Cord, aka The Cowboys.

They have done themselves and their family and their country proud.
Not once did they argue with each other, or try and put other teams
down, not once did they run a dirty race, they were always friendly to
the locals and their customs, and always respected
the different cultures they came across.

The catch cry of "oh My Gravy" has now taken off, and this team will
forever be known for this. These two brothers are now spending time
raising money for cancer research thru their pro bull riding circuit.

If you ever want to teach kids how to behave and how to treat
others, just show them a DVD of this series.

Even in the final leg, the two cowboys showed their good
nature, when they just starting top gently ribbed
the eventual winners, the gay brothers,
after the brothers sneaked ahead of them.

At the end of the race, they showed class and respect to all the
teams, unlike Brandy and Carol who were just downright bullies to
Caite.

So congrats to Dan and Jordon for winning, and a heartfelt
thankyou to Jet and Cord for showing the race, niceness.

Well Done.

The Apprentice New Zealand Begins

The Apprentice New Zealand has begun.

It's off to a flying start, I was very impressed
with the first episode.

New Zealand's version of Donald Trump is
Terry Serepisos he is the owner of Professional
football team the Wellington Phoenix.

For the first task, teams had to set
up a BBQ in two different locations in
Auckland.

The teams were men versus woman. The men had a strange way
of picking their leader for the first task, they drew the
names out of hat, imagine what Trump would say,the men
then stuffed up by going to the wrong location.

Not a good start for the boys.

The girls were all set up in the right place, and decided
to buy cheap food because customers wouldn't know the
difference,(not very good IMHO)plus they were a bit
aggressive in their sales tactics.

In the end the men won, because they charged more
for their food.

The woman lost and got Kim fired for not having
follow thru on her ideas.

I really think when this series comes to it's finale,
it wont be the people that were the main focus of
episode that will be in that final show.

Those people fell into the reality TV zone of trying
to act real tough and mean, thinking they will look
good in Terry's eyes.

Well I'm afraid in the business world, its the people
who stay calm under pressure and can get the best
out of people that ends up on top.

Time will tell.

Roll on Episode two.

I wanna be a Masterchef

I wish I could cook, that must be the greatest
feeling in the world, but I have the pallet of
a child.

The hit British and Australia programme MasterChef
has come to New Zealand, although the programme is
not as good as the Gordon Ramsay's Hell's Kitchen,
it's going to be great to see how New Zealanders do.

The pressure on people to cook something to perfection
while being timed, and having someone look over your
shoulder must be extreme.

I hope these guys and girls do well, someone may end up
having a new career out if, I also hope the contestants
involved aren't just people who want a career in reality
TV, for this show.

It's going to be great to see people from all walks
of life, try and create a dish that is beautiful and
tasty.

Good luck to them all.

F R A N Z

F R A N Z

F R A N Z

F R A N Z

It anit that hard, big easy.

You had the first letter!!!!!

Yet you took a four hour penalty after many failed attempts.

Still you were a great team!!!

Pity you just missed out on the final.

Roll on next week.

Big Easy and the Amazing Race

Last night episode was a great one, first off the father and son
team got eliminated. The goodlooking young couple got in first
place, although I think their egos will get the better of them.

My favorite team, the globetrotters got in a bit of trouble in
the race to the finish line, as they attempted to overtake Sam
and Dan, Sam (I think) fell over.

Sam and Dan still made it to the finish line ahead, but complained
to Phil that the Globetrotters pushed them over. The Globetrotters
said they were elbowed out the way.

My view on it was, the Globetrotters who were a lot
quicker tried to get past and Sam and Dan, who tried
to blocked them with their bodies and
Sam and Dan fell over.

I dont believe the Globetrotters pushed them, I mean if someone
who is six foot feet pushes you over, your going to stay on
the ground for awhile.

Anyway, cant wait for next week. Hopefully there will be more
shenanigans.

Look who's Back!!!!!!!!!!

He's back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A genuine surprise on a reality TV show. Last year everybody's favorite Robert had to leave Hell's Kitchen because of heart problems.

Well on tonight's opening episode of season six, there was Robert with his wife, set to enjoy a meal, when Ramsay invited him back as a contestant.

He excepted!

That actually came as a shock, something that reality TV fails to do, except for the amazing race.

The best of luck to Robert, he is by far the most entertaining and genuine person to appear on Hell's Kitchen and he cook.

Lets hope he has a long and healthy stay on the show.

The Amazing Race

If anyone watched season 13 and 14 of the Amazing Race, you would of noticed, despite all the road blocks and uturns and detours, and airlines and strong physically teams and strong mental teams and teams that are nice and teams that are mean, the race normally always comes down to one thing.

Taxi drivers.

I love the Amazing race but the taxi drivers have seemed to have too much of a impact over the past two seasons.

In season 13, the greatest team ever to compete on the amazing race, Andrew and Dan, AKA: The College Boys/Dandrew, made the final and were on their way to the last task, when their Taxi driver decided to drive 40 miles an hour in the wrong direction on the freeway, thus costing them a chance of a million dollars.

In season 14, the cheerleaders, two people who were mean spirited too the locals and were basically bratty, got their just desserts when they got stuck with a Taxi driver who drove them to the wrong place.

I hope the producers will look back over the past two seasons and try to make sure for season 15 that Taxi drivers don't have such a big impact on the show and the biggest impact is the contestants ability to do the tasks.

Can't wait for season 15.
