Modern Family Review: Party Crasher

What a wonderful episode.  An all time classic, in fact
season four, would probably have to be my favorite
season so far of Modern Family.

Many highlights tonight.

Manny's first kiss, and the embarrassment of it, when
his family surprised him with his surprise birthday.

Cam being Jealous of Lilly's relationship with Mitch.

Gloria and Jay behaving badly with Gloria giving
birth at the end.

Despite all these big story lines, it was once again
Phil Dunphy and  Haley, Dad/Daughter moment that stole the episode.

The moment he gave back out of the elevator and
Haley heard how he really feels about her,  was
one of the sweetest moments Modern Family
has ever filmed and it had me in tears.

The laughs in this episode came from Phil's
strange sort of crush on Hermione  Granger
and Cam accidently injuring Lilly on several
occasions.

The scene when Phil with the shears about to
cut off Haley's boyfriend's hair was a fall out
of your chair moment it was so funny.

Glad to see Luke and Lilly are the now in
the same position with the new baby.

There is a reason why Modern Family
is fast becoming recognize as an all
time classic.

Everything from the acting to the writing
to the directing is honest and heartfelt.

Modern Family Review: "New Years Eve"

A funny sincere way for the second part of season four
to start.

I was going through, Modern family withdrawal symptoms,
but its back underway for 2013.

I could go through all the different story lines for tonight's episode,
but for me they were all overshadowed, by Haley being mature and
caring for Luke, she and Alex were in charged of looking after
Lily, Manny and Luke, and when Luke who is now 14, bought
a girl over and went up to his room to make out with her, Haley
was shocked.

At first, her and Alex, didnt know how to handle it, but with maturity
she played the part of a mother and told the girl to get out or she
will call the girls mother.

Haley and Alex then looked at each other, and came to
agreement, that they don't want their little brother to grow
up yet.

Very sweet moment, the end was classic, when midnight struck,
they toasted each other, but then swapped drinks, because Alex's
one had alcohol  in it.

Beautiful episode.

Modern Family Review: Diamond in the Rough

Another Homer Run for Modern Family.

10/10.

This week's episode revolved around Cam and
Claire wanting wanting to go in and buy a house and
flip it, while Mitch and Phil were against it, and Phil
let Mitch be the bad guy.

Side storylines was Manny and Luke's baseball team
in the playoffs, and Gloria singing badly to her unborn
baby.

I like the way the txt's between Phil and Mitch  were
actually group txt's that everybody received.

I also like the way, Mitch and Phil blackmailed
each other.

As always with Modern Family, they got it sorted out,
they got the house, Manny got hit with a baseball, thus
giving his team the win, and Jay got into the groove of
talking to his unborn baby.

The best lines were...

Claire: Ive made choclate chip pancakes
hayley: im not 12
Phil: dibs on hers.

Luke: will you chock up a little
Manny: probably when they play the national anthem

Jay: Papa will buy ten diamond rings to get the mocking bird to
shut the hell up

Cam: I picked blue to match your eyes,  i shouldve pick
black to match your heart, although you look good in black,
Love you.

Jay: I will talk to you in the morning. (talking to his unborn
baby, while Gloria was asleep)

Modern Family Review: "When a Tree Falls"

Yet again, Modern Family proves itself, the best comedy
on television, with plenty of huge laughs along the way.

The storyline revolved around, Claire and Gloria shopping,
Jay and Phil taking Many and Luke to a friend's party, Cam and
Mitch trying to save a tree from getting chopped down.

My favorite storyline though was Alex, trying for revenge against
her sister, by taking  a picture of her picking up trash during
her community service.

The picture of Haley's mug shot alone, made watching this
episode worth while.

I do hope they're going to do more with Alex, she a complex
character, who needs to be explored more deeply.

Phil beating up Jay with the oversize boxing gloves  was
another highlight.

Well done for another brilliant episode.

8/10

Some lines from tonight.

On one hand, Im upset i have to pick up garabage on
the other, I look cute in orange. (Haley)

Your a kid your not Nixon on the beach (Jay)

 Look I'm  Mexico again, does
anyone care, I'm not from Mexico (Manny)

We need a birth certificate (Luke)

It will be finest moment ina few years I
hope to have more friends and not have time for
this stuff. (Alex)

Lets get philyscial (Phil)

I would rather box my daughter husbands than my sons. (Jay)

Modern Family Review: "Arrested"

Another brilliant episode of Modern Family, which
had a big plot point for the rest of the season.

The episode revolved about Haley underage drinking
at her college and accidently assaulting a policeman, Jay's
first wife coming for a visit, and Luke having an allergic
reaction to some soy Bacon.

The main story line belonged to Haley, and was quite
significant for a couple of reason, we saw real angry
from Phil at his daughter's reaction, and the look of
admiration from Claire was perfect, the episode
saw Haley admitting what she did, but getting kicked
out of college for it.

The DeeDee storyline did nothing for me, but Alex
was cute when she answered the questions for the
student doctors.

The best lines were...

She's got a daughter  behnind bars and im a bad parent (Cam)

Take a lot of cash, and when you flash it to the police, dont say anything, let the
eyes do the talking. (Gloria)

Its not real bacon its fockin (Cam)
Its fockin disgusting (Mitch)

Im living in a cultrual waste land (Manny)
With a heated pool (Jay)

Hayley this is real life, not a excellent movie (Phil, a reference to clueless)

What does this do (Lily)
I don't know, but  thanks to Obama, your  paying for it (Luke)

Overall 8/10.

I had thought of doing a post about Ariel Winter's situation
in real life, but she is 14, and I'm glad she is now, somewhere
safe, and the last thing she needs is the media/bloggers giving
all the details.

Here's hoping it will work out for her.

Time will tell.

Update: (This story is sad and is getting get worse for Ariel, thoughts
with her, imho she has so done the right thing)

Modern Family, who would they vote for?

The following is just my opinion.

Cam would vote for Obama
Mitch would vote for Obama.
Jay  would vote for Romney
Gloria would vote for Obama
Phil would vote for Obama
Claire would vote for Romney
Alex would vote for Obama
Luke would vote for a third party.
Hayley would vote for who is more fashionable.
Manny would abstain from voting.
Dylan wont be able to find the voting booth.
Lily would vote for Larry.

Modern Family Review: "Yard Sale"

10/10

Again a perfect episode from Modern Family. The episode
revolved around the family's yard sale, the main story centered
around if Alex's boyfriend was gay, he obviously is, but that
doesn't stop Alex from believing different.

The other side stories were, Phil being scared of motorcycles
but wanting to prove he was a man, Mitch wanting to keep
the jeans and Gloria's puppet.

I really loved the Alex story, it's a hard write to write a
story line involving  a14 year old girl, you can either get
too cheesy like Disney programmes or too dramatic
like a movie of the week, it helps that the actress that
plays her, Ariel Winter is only 14 in real life.

The one liners were coming thick and fast, some of
the best Modern family has ever written, they were.

Even I think its nerdy and im fluent in elvish (Alex)

I'm ready to plurge and thats not how i lost weight (Cam)

I'm terrified of motorcycles but sometimes you have to
do things to show your still a man (Phil)

I'm not nervous Ive had bigger hogs than this between my legs. (Phil)

Can you talk to her (Claire)

Not when she is like this, oh you mean alex? (Cam)

You didnt need to bring in ya big gay guns to back it up, no offense. (Alex)

I kinda like it (Cam)

What's your return policy (person at yard sale)

You return I call the police (Jay)

Again 10/10 for the funniest show on tv.

Modern Family Review: "Open House of Horrors"

Tonight was Modern Family's Halloween episode.

As usual, there were so so many oneliners, that will
go down as classic.

Halloween episodes and Theme episodes are great,
because they're not overbearing, there is not plot
points for the rest of the season, they're just fun.

Open house of Horrors, was a fun episode. I'm
trying to judge what the best line was,  it has to
be a tie between  Phil and Manny, Phil's line
was  "Seriously though, a Gryffindor letting his mom
carry his quidditch broom? How Hufflepuff is that?"

Manny's line was, "If only this broom had real magical
powers like Mary Poppin's"

The Cam and Mitch storyline of Cam wanting
people to notice he lost  weight and Mitch
telling Lilly her mother was a princess, worked,
and I'm very impressed by the child actor playing
Lilly.

Gloria being emotional and Jay noticing his age,
seemed added on.

I have to say that I was genuinely scared when Phil
thought he was alone in the house.

A great episode, could've used more of Alex and
Haley didn't appear in it at all, a great use of Manny though
and Luke had a couple of good lines.

All in all, this show is the best in Television, very
funny and scary episode.

8/10

Modern Family Review: "The Butler's Escape"

The fourth episode of the fourth season revolved
around, Luke wanting to give up magic, Gloria's
snoring and Mitch and Cam struggling with
their reverse roles.

I really like this episode, probably the best thing
about it was not really the main story lines.

I like that they have made Alex mean, she is
obviously missing her sister and needs that
confrontation with her, so it was great that
she got to skype, and thus balance got
restored to the house hold.

Although I do hope they will do more
with the Alex character.

The Cam and Mitch storyline was predictable
but had some real funny moments, Lily ripping
out the music chord was probably her best all
scene, Cam's faces while playing the music to
the students and the F Mr Tucker was also
priceless.

The snoring story line with Gloria was okay,
but didnt really do much for me.

The Luke and Phil story line was good, and
turned great with the hug at the end. I'm sure
Luke had that planned.

Best line of the night had to be Jay's...

Your huge, your loud ,its like sleeping with Rush Limbaugh.

Overall a good episode.

7/10.

Phil Dunphy's Phil’s-osophy

I want this book.

Come on, Modern family writers, release it to
the book stores.

Modern Family Review: "Snip"

The second of tonight's episode was titled "Snip".

Although not as funny as tonight's first episode, Snip
was very very good indeed.

The episode had two very clever visual jokes, Cam's
outfit matching the bedroom curtains and when Phil
was sitting on the bench covering part of his own
real estate ad, which meant it read "Not a real man"

Jay must of thought all his Xmas's had come at once.

I'm glad that Alex's run as a goth appears to be a short
lived thing and Phil must be glad that he doesn't go
through with a vasectomy.

Again Modern Family pulled the right heart strings
near the end, it was great to see Claire in these
moments.

Cam going back as a music teacher was a
nice touch, and Gloria coming to her senses
made actual sense.

Overall a great episode, that was overshadowed
by the first episode of the night, which will
become an all time favorite with fans.

Fav lines from Snip.

Is it a Vascetdayou or a Vastecdame
Don't you a raven to train
We're going need a bigger belt
You dont get to talk Morticia

Modern Family Review: "Schooled"

A double dose of Modern Family tonight.

It started off with the episode "Schooled".

Modern family's Schooled was far far too good,
nearly everyline was said perfectly, every action
was done perfectly, it's hard to review
a show, which has reached perfection.

It had three story lines, Gloria and Jay taking a parenting class,
Cam and Mitch's argument with a Lesbian couple over their
children fighting in Kindergarten and Phil and Claire dropping
Hayley off at College.

The Jay and Gloria storyline was funny, with Jay or course being
very much politcally incorrect, it was so like Jay and Gloria too
pass notes in class. Of course Jay and Gloria left the class early, his
comment "I felt like a Burrito" will make sense too all that watched it.

Cam and Mitch's fight with a Lesbian couple was pure comedy,
this is the storyline that probably had the best oneliners, it was
also very clever the way Cam and Mitch explained why Gay men
and Lesbian woman don't get along.

Again, the emotional side to this episode, was dropping off Hayley
at college, the scene with Phil mistakes a college student for his
wife was pricelss, but it was near the end, with hayley calling her
parents up from college, after reading Phil's book, that will have
you in tears, very very sweet indeed.

I cant write enough, how I enjoyed this latest episode,  this show
has now grown into something special, long may it continue.

Fav Quotes from this episode

Dont dork up our room, dont slut up your college
Is this kindergarten or the hunger games
I saw it on the L word, I persume they have consultants.
Dance until your feet hurt, sing until your lungs hurt, act until your

Modern Family Review: "Bringing up Baby" 4:01

10/10

What a way to start the season.

Modern Family has started it's four season in
the best possible way, season three had mixed
reviews from the critics, but there won't be any
mixed reviews for the opening episode of season
four.

This episode has quite possibly the funniest
scene the show has done, with Cam and Mitch
trying to take too rather large soft toys back,
and tying them to the roof rack of their car.

The main story line revolved around Gloria getting
set to tell Jay she's pregnant and wondering what
his reaction will be, with the side stories of Dylan
trying to be allowed to stay with the Dunphy's and
Cam and Mitch trying to adopt a cat.

It was sweet, funny and clever and reminded people
of why this show has walked over all others in the
Emmy's awards, the past three seasons.

Plenty of funny lines, Phil punchline of "Lucky baby"
was delivered perfectly, as was Manny's line about
free verse girls.

I also liked how they jumped forward near the end of
the episode.

If season four is going to be like its opening episode,
then this show will be well on it's way to being
cemented as one of television's all time favorites.

Well done to Modern Family!!!

Fingers crossed for a great fourth season, full
of laughs and nice moments!

Modern Family Tender moment

Haven't been able to review the last couple of episodes
of Modern Family, lets just say, they have both been
very tender indeed.

8/10 for both episodes.

Best and most understated scene would've to be
Phil writing Alex's initial on the moon sign outside
the cafe.

Lovely moment.

Modern Family Review: "Send out the Clowns" 3:18

Yet another brilliant episode for Modern Family.

8/10

The show had four story lines.

One Phil had tried to get a listing which his rival got by
pretending that Phil had pushed her.

Manny friend was using Manny because he had a crush
on Gloria.

Claire wanted Haley and Alex to add her to their facebook.

Cam/Fizbo got together for one last children party with his
clown partner, Louis.

Highlights of the episode included, Lilly spitting water in
Mitch's face, after she saw Cam and Louis do it.

Manny's little song and dance as a Mascot.

Phil finally getting the listing, by using Luke to act cute.

Well done again to Modern Family.

MODERN FAMILY REVIEW: "LEAP DAY" 3:17

You guessed it, yes indeed, the latest Modern Family
episode titled "Leap Day" gets ten out of ten for being
beautifully funny and at sometimes freaky.

The episode revolves around Leap day, and Cam's birthday
that falls on Leap Day. So according to Cam he's actually only
ten.

Mitch had planned a Wizard of Oz theme,  but then came to the
conclusion that a theme about a  movie with a Tornado in it,
wouldn't be right, because Cam's family farm had been hit by
one. So he plans a boat ride instead for the family.

The other story line was Phil and Luke trying to get out
the house, while, Claire, Alex and Haley were on their
monthly cycle.

That probably had tonight's episode biggest laugh and
one of the best visuals laughs of all time, when Phil got
Luke to put some fake blood on a finger and he would
pretend to rush him to the doctor, when in fact they
were going trapezing, (which was the original plan for
the whole family,) unfortunately Luke got the fake blood all
over him, and the girls and Claire freaked, (it looked like
something out of a horror movie) Everybody played it
so well.

The third story wasn't that major and revolved about Jay
thinking Gloria wants a man that fights.

I dont want to give too much away, but Mitch figures out
that Cam just wants a birthday of a ten year old.

Lovely, beautiful, freaky, funny, Modern Family is
without a doubt the best program on TV.

Well done to the writers/producers/directors and
most all the actors.

Ten out of ten for Leap day.

Why Phil Dunphy is better than most Dads

There was a scene in last night's Modern Family that
should go down in TV History, it was IMHO the best
scene ever form this iconic show.

The episode titled "Virgin Territory" was again ten out  of
ten, and the scene I'm talking about was Phil Dunphy
finding out that his daughter wasn't a virgin.

The writers could've gone the way of other cheesy
sitcoms and had a moral stance or it could've tried to
be hard hitting like some cable shows, going for ratings.

Instead they filmed what could be the most delightful, sweet
tender Dad/Daughter moment in TV History.

When Phil Dunphy was out with his daughter, he asked
her to go get a table at the food court (she was feeling awkward
knowing her dad knew) she asks "Counter or Booth",
he just softly replies, "What ever seems right to you, I trust you"
They hug, next scene has her talking head saying "I have a cool
Dad"

That would mean a lot to Phil, for he has always tried to
be the cool dad.

The episode IMHO was about trust, and was well timed,
since it aired about a week or two after a real life Dad,
shot apart his daughter's laptop and has gone on to
become a successful  blogger and massive on facebook
with the "Tough Love" approach, all the while having
ads on his page with software that lets you spy on
your kids internet use. ( some of the profits though
are going to the MDA)

(Yes I am aware that I have posted on the real
dad's  blog, using a different name, I do so,
so, I dont get spam to my inbox)

But back to Phil, he should be the poster child for
what a Dad and a Parent should be, he doesn't show
his love by being  a hardass, he wants to be part
of his daughters and sons life, and is upset if he's
not in the loop, and if  his children makes a mistake,
he doesn't make them feel like they are worst people
in the world.

The actor Ty Burrell actually bases his performance on
his late father, which makes it all the sweeter.

So thank you Modern Family for what it has to be
one of my all time favorite scenes.

Modern Family Review: "Virgin Territory" 3:16

The Latest Modern family episode, may of just had
my all time favorite scene, the episode titled "Virgin
Territory" revolved around secrets the family members
had.

Two little sidestories were Cam going through the Dunphy's
household looking for borrowed tupperware, and Luke
finally getting over that Lily is now the cute one, and he is
now the bad boy.

Claire's secret was that she liked to go to a gun range, Mitchell
secret was that Jay's hole in one wasnt a hole in one, because
Mitchell had kicked the ball into the hole, Manny had a secret
crush on a girl, and Luke and Luke and Manny drove a car.

But the biggest secret of all was that, Haley isn't a virgin, and Phil
found this out. Which bought me to my favorite all time moment
of Modern Family.

Phil of course was upset by this and while out,  he asked Haley
to go get a table at the food court, she asks "counter or booth"
he replies "What ever seems right to you, I trust you"

They hug.

Next is the talking head scene with Haley and she says "I have
a cool dad" The smile and emotional on her face says it all.

The scene in the doll hospital between Phil and Haley was perfect,
it was tender without being sickly sweet, it was real,  hats
off to both actors, and once again this Modern Family
episode has to get ten out of ten.

Modern Family: "Aunt Mommy" Review

Even if there was only line in tonight's episode, it still
would get ten out of ten.

Phil Dunphy's two little words, and the way Ty Burrell
delivered them was perfect, talking about his job as a
Real Estate agent, during the talking head segment, he
said there is a phrase for houses that are hard to sell...

"Commission Impossible"

That alone made the show worth watching, sure there
was other highlights, Lilly screaming at a picture of
a unseen baby on Mitch and Cam's computer and of
course, Phil's other big line...

"Commission Accomplished"

Basically the story line consisted of a drunk  Claire  agreeing
to donate eggs for Mitch and Cam. Of course, cooler
heads prevailed.

Hats off to the writers/ director and actors,  for
a job well done.

Once again ten out of ten for Modern Family.
