Box Breakers: Crown Royale Football Hanger Pack 2012
Wanted to give Crown Royale a go on release day but couldn't afford a hobby box or hobby pack so went with a rack pack. It was exciting to see Panini move Crown Royale to a retail product this year as well. Here is how a one rack pack would provide you!
Base Cards |
Rookies |
Inserts |
Not too much excitement for these in terms of a rack pack. But the base cards still look nice and I do like the overall design.
Would rate this break:

Fan Box Breaker: Sage Hit Footbal 2012 Blaster
One of my favorite segments is Fan Box Breakers where you guys show off your pulls. Whether its blasters, packs, pack, box, so on. Thanks for sharing and today the shout out goes to Jammin JDcards!
Here is what Jammin JDcards has to say about this discounted break:
2012 Sage Hit Football – Found this box on sale, the 50% off talked me into buying it. There really isn’t anything unexpected in this product. It looks and feels pretty much the same each year. I was happy with all the big named rookies that were in the packs. But overall not much to say about it - 4/10 Design, 4/10 Quality, 4/10 Value.
Here is a link of the sale items if you saw something in this break that you are interested in: http://bit.ly/S3oE0Q

Box Breakers: 4 retail packs of Topps Football 2012
This was a bore break..but another Christmas present. I don' t know where the picture of the rookies went but there were a few rookies but no namers.
And the highlight of the break was this that you get off from the Game Time Giveaway cards:

More inserts...I do like the mini's |
Base cards |
I just got my Drew Brees one the other day and will request delivery on this one as well.
Without the Rice pull the break would have been very low rated. But I rate this a :

Andrew Durante
Andrew Durante did the right thing.
Finally, a captain of a kiwi side in an
Australian sports league, saying what's
been happening for years.
Aussie teams cheat.
The Phoenix lost to the Adelaide United, 3-1
tonight, was a disgrace to the game
of soccer.
Hang your head in shame United, hang
your head in Shame ref and linesmen.
Andrew Durante is a new hero in my
book, he may get fined and even a ban
but he said what needed to be said.
It's always the kiwi sides that get
the wrong end of the stick.
Hats off to him!

SPORT CARD COLLECTORS PANINI'S PLAYER OF THE DAY CONTEST #4
There are 6 players on the front of the box, from left of Calvin Johnson, Eli Manning, Trent Richardson, Peyton Manning, Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin. Choose ONE player and give us the amount of TD's for only their main category such passing, running, or receiving that player will have WITHOUT going over!! So if for example, RG3 passes for 2 TD's and runs for 1.we are only counting the 2 TD's he passed for since he is a QB and his main scoring comes from passing. This is part 1 of the contest...part 2 is to pick the winner of these five games. But in order to move onto part 2..you must get part 1 right! If you go over on part 1...part 2 will not count unless everyone else doesn't get part 1 right. 0 is an answer for part 1...but remember if they score 3td's that could hurt you in the second part because you will be 3 off when someone else might be closer. But its a risk you could take and it could reward you.
Here are the 5 games:
Dallas @ Baltimore
NYG @ SF
Minn @ Wash
Green Bay @ Houston
SD @ Denver
The person closest to getting the amount of TD's and the most games wins this week. Winner will be announced on Tuesday 16th.

Wellington Phoenix's New Star
Louis Fenton.
The Wellington Phoenix 2-0 victory over
Sydney was not only amazing for the way
they played, very attacking style, didn't
try to defend for 60 minutes, but for the
rise of a 19 year old kid Louis Fenton.
Louis Fenton is a home grown star, his goal
last night would belong in any league in the
world, it was not just his goal though, he keep
going and going. (oh to have young legs)
This is the start the Wellington Phoenix needed,
an entertaining win, the young players stepping
up, and a real star in the making.
What a way to start the season!

Phoenix set to Rise
It all depends on Ricki Herbert,
the season will be successful if
Herbert does one thing.
It's more of not doing something
actually, for the Wellington Phoenix
to make the playoffs, Herbert has
to get out of the mentally of thinking
he can hold a one goal lead for 60-
70 minutes.
Too many times, he has tried this, and
of course when the players have held
a lead for 60-70, minutes, in the final
minute they start to relax and that is
when disaster strikes.
Push players back with 5 to go, not 60
to go.
Time will tell for the Wellington Phoenix,
here's hoping they will join the Breakers
as New Zealand's only team to win an
Aussie comp.

Brett Favre returns to football as high school offensive coordinator
Brett Favre is expected to sign a contract as a high school offensive coordinator.
Favre is expected to be named the new offensive coordinator at Hattiesburg Miss. Oak Grove High within days. The move could become official as early as Monday night.
While Oak Grove head football coach Nevil Barr told WDAM that no official decision had been made, Favre's longtime agent, Bus Cook, told the Sun-Herald that Favre was definitely taking a position at the school to "give him something to do."
Barr and Favre are reportedly close friends, and the coach has expressed a great deal of flexibility in potential roles for the legendary quarterback as a way to get him involved in the program.

Zealand needed, the defense will now be sound,

Jamaica 3 New Zealand 2
So a loss for New Zealand, in their friendly football
match against Jamaica, 3-2. A great game
though and a wonderful effort, two penalties
that weren't given to NZ by the ref, didn't help.
The New Zealand team known as "The All Whites"
(the team colours, despite wearing black for this match)
were unlucky to lose and could've well taken the game
out, they had flown from their professional clubs
from all parts of the Globe, the USA, England, Australia,
and just had one training one and 24 hours to get over
jet lag.
IMHO things are looking good for when they start
their world cup qualifying campaign in June. So
many young players, and have we found a star
in Rojas???
Time will tell and Fingers are crossed.
Roll on 2014.

Wellington Phoenix Wins!
Man I was so close to flying to Wellington for this game,
but in the end I didn't, too many bills to be paid, but well
done to all those who went to the game.
I was really concerned at the end of the first half, at 1-1,
it seems to me that a Ricki Herbert coached side will
take an early lead and then get way too defensive and
go to lose, and when the Heart equalized I thought the
same thing is going to happen.
Thankfully it didn't, a brilliant second half, full of attacking
football, saw the Phoenix win 3-1.
Hats off to the Yellow Fever people, the loudest bunch
of supporters a team could hope to have.
Can they go all the way and be the second New Zealand
team to win an Australian championship behind Basketball's
Breakers?
Time will tell, in the meantime, enjoy the ride.

Brady throws record 6 TDs defeat Broncos
New England advanced to next weekend’s AFC championship game at home against the winner of Sunday’s game between the Houston Texans and Baltimore Ravens game with a 45-10 thrashing of Denver. The Patriots, as they have been wont to do over the years, played at a relentless pace for much of the game as Brady finished with an NFL playoff-record-tying six touchdown passes and a team record for passing yards (363) in a playoff game.
The Patriots’ defense is just too much for the Bronco's. Tebow completed just nine of 26 passes for 136 yards and no touchdowns and rushed for only 13 yards on five carries. With New England up 42-7, the fans began chanting, “Teeee-bow . . . Teee-bow.” On the next play, he was sacked for an 11-yard loss — one of five sacks for New England’s 31st-ranked defense.

Stunning Kiwi Victory
New Zealand sport has had one of its golden moments,
our under 17 woman's football team has caused a major
upset by beating Australia 2-1. It was the first test in a
three test series.
This victory cannot underestimated, (well it has been by the
likes of Brendan Telfer and our media.) To get a victory
over Australia at any level of football and for one of our
woman's team to do this, is worthy of a Halberg.
So well done to them, and here's hoping they can go one
better and win the series, then maybe just maybe people
will start to take notice of this team.

Wellington Phoenix Saved!
Well done to the Phoenix their place in the
Australian A League is secure. Thanks to a
group of seven business men who will overtake
the running of the club from Terry Serepisos.
A big thank you has to be given to Terry
Serepisos for saving the Phoenix, and we can
only hope he can sort out his financial troubles
because he has done a hell of a lot for New
Zealand football.
So here we are, New Zealand has it's own
professional football club playing in the
Australian League. This is so important
for New Zealand Football and New Zealand
sport, if they were to falter, then it might
as well been, bye bye to football in
New Zealand.
Thankfully the Phoenix are alive and well, and
in about a month's time, the shirts will be off
the crowd will be singing and hopefully the
strikers will be scoring.
Time will tell.

Herbert Owed $100,000
The most important man in New Zealand sport
is owed, $100 thousand dollars by his club the
Wellington Phoenix, and the lawyers have been
bought in.
Ricki Herbert the Phoenix and All Whites coach
has stayed loyal to all, but like all he has bills to
be paid, I cannot think of a coach from another
code who would stand by his team despite not being
paid what he was promised.
Herbert rightfully has refused to comment.
So where does this leave sport in New Zealand.
The next few weeks is going to be crucial to
the history of sport in this country, not just
football, but Basketball and Swimming, the
whole landscape might change.
What must happen for the survival of sport
is three things, First, Herbert must stay on, if he
goes the Phoenix goes and that will be the
end of football in the country.
Secondly, the Tall Blacks just have to make
the Olympics, Basketball will lose funding
and the sport will die, the New Zealand media
have already started to put the knife in, by
making use lose home court advantage, we need
to rise up to this.
Thirdly, NewZealand swimming has to rely on
the swimmers to pull some amazing times out of the
hat, results will rescue this sport, and we have
some amazing swimmers overseas, doing some
amazing times.
If these three situations don't go our way, then sport
is dead in this country, the media will be happy
because they can just focus on three sports that
no one cares about, but pays their bills.
My fingers and toes are crossed, because the
whole landscape of sport in NewZealand is
going to change soon.
Fingers crossed it will be for the better.
